I have a Corsair H55 and my FX8100 tends to run cold under load. I need to boost it to 3.5GHZ (the stock is 2.8GHZ). I'm curious about the ideal voltage—though I think 1.2375V would be good, what do you suggest? Thanks
😀
(PS: I'm using AMD OverDrive for ease, since I don't want to risk damaging the CPU if I switch to BIOS)

It can damage the system from AOD as easily as from BIOS. It modifies BIOS settings for OCing.

If you struggle to complete the OC process through the BIOS, you might mistakenly believe that switching to software-based OC would be more effective and secure. Make sure to review the specifications for that processor before proceeding.

CountMike, we've all been new to overclocking at some point. There's no need to jump down someone's throat when they just want advice.
I just warned him that SW OC is not safer than doing it in BIOS and got insulted in return. Even after years and years of OCing I always check spec sheets first to see the limits. As you probably well know, each part is different and there's no set and exact way to do it.

Here's some info. I have a Corsair H55 and my FX8100 runs cold at load. I want to get 3.5GHZ (It's stock is 2.8GHZ) out of it. And I wanted to know, what voltage should I run? presumed 1.2375V would be best, but I'd want to hear your suggestions and ideas. Thanks
😀
(PS: I am using AMD OverDrive for simplicity, seeing as I can't mess my CPU up as easily as if it were in BIOS)

The suggested overclocking voltage didn't work no matter what I adjusted. I'll stick with the assumed good voltage and stop if anything goes wrong. Thanks.

AOD does a good job alerting you to potential dangers.
