RPS is the worst "Gaming" site ever. The woke fools. That's just my perspective.

MFW individuals feel hurt when "god wills it." Also, in agreement with the person above me.

Perhaps if the Nazis hadn't turned it into a racist internet meme, this wouldn't have occurred? IDGAF mentioned it's not a major issue in-game. CK3 appears decent, just wish it's more polished at launch than Imperator: Rome. Nice that they're offering a free expansion for Imperator: Rome, by the way.

I don't take that idea seriously just because pepe the frog is linked to white supremacist rhetoric. If Nazis started referring to Native Americans as watermelons because "they're both red and soft," then we should stop calling melons watermelons. It's a slippery slope.

Perhaps they didn't intend to make Pepe represent a white supremacist image anymore. It seems you're pointing fingers at the wrong individuals. It's similar to feeling annoyed when people don't use swastikas as much today. No, someone clearly damaged the meaning of that symbol.

In modern history, the swastika consistently represented hatred. Pepe appears solely in contemporary times, functioning as a meme.

The swastika was not always used as a symbol of hate in modern history. It only took on that meaning in the 1930s.
Whether it's a meme is not really important. Memes can be good or bad like any other thing. The fact of the matter is Pepe is now primarily a symbol of fascist ideology, and should be treated as such. The phrase Deus Vult has been moving in that direction too, though it's certainly less prominent than Pepe.
I definitely don't want swastikas or Pepes in games unless there's a very good reason to include them. I don't care quite so much about Deus Vult, but as it already played practically no role in CK2, I really don't care about it being absent from CK3.

Before the 30s the swastika appeared in pre-Christian Europe, which isn't exactly part of mainstream history. I'm looking for specific examples. I don't often encounter fascists, but I rarely see Pepe used beyond memes or similar content. Same with dues vult. I really think most people share this view on swastikas. I wouldn't expect a game developer to use them in 2019 for historical accuracy, especially if the game's goal was to reflect that history truthfully. I'm still puzzled about the Pepe issue.

Modern history started around 1500, though opinions differ—some point to 1492, others 1521, but definitely long before 1930. It was used, albeit rarely, in Christian Europe.
