Yeah Furmark isn't great. Just ignore it and keep going.
I have links to your 3dmark scores. Nice, I found them helpful for spotting artifacts. I managed to boost my 280, but in the smoke of Heaven you could see it artifacting. I got the 280 before the 285 came out, and I heard it doesn't overclock nearly as much.
This is the optimal setup for mine.
I managed to reach 1073Mhz on the GPU with 1450Mhz Vram, but I also increased the RAM up to 1500, which seems to have affected performance negatively—my Firestrike score dropped noticeably. Is this a known issue? Could overclocking the Vram actually slow things down? It still worked, though it hurt my benchmarks in valley and firestrike.
I might attempt to push the CPU to 4.5, but I believe 1073Mhz on the GPU with 1450Mhz Vram is likely the best I can achieve for graphics. My graphics are already far ahead of my CPU, so it doesn’t make much sense to try and force the card further until a better CPU is available.
Another mistake I made: instead of carefully increasing each part one by one, I’ve been making small adjustments here and there—tiny tweaks in Vclock, a bit more Vram, maybe a touch of extra voltage.
I might try again this time, doing it properly.
Do you suggest finding the card’s limit without adjusting the voltage, or is it acceptable to overvolt it like you do with CPUs? If yes, would there be a suitable tool for that? I’ve been using Crimson for all my graphics overclocking so far, which doesn’t display the actual GPU voltage. Only a %.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphic...5-review/1. On their overclocking guide, they mentioned around 1030 cores with 1550 memory. So it seems to be a solid setup so far—try boosting the power limit and see if the memory remains stable at around 110%.
Yeah, you're right about furmark. It's okay for testing cooling, but when it comes to stability, it doesn't matter much.
I feel pretty satisfied with my current GPU setup. My CPU is already struggling. Now I just need to figure out how to move past this CPU bottleneck...
Thanks for the advice.
I adjusted the settings to 1050 core, 1425 mem, 105% power, and achieved stable CPU performance at 4.4Ghz. I achieved my top Valley, Firestrike, and passmark results so far. The first run of firestrike improved by 100 points, though it had a time error making the test invalid.
🙁
That would have placed me in #2...
I might need to test at 4.5Ghz next.
Hey! I tried it again and got #2. Link: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9024270
It crashed at 4.5, maybe next time.
