The function left and right click on touchpad isn't functioning.
As mentioned in the title, the left and right click on the touchpad aren’t functioning properly. I understand it’s physically fine—when the laptop restarts it works briefly before stopping abruptly. It produces a distinct clicking sound.
I own an A ROG Zephyrus laptop with the touchpad working normally. However, I can use the trackpad and smart gestures (such as scrolling with two fingers or zooming in/out, or tapping with two fingers for right-click). The physical left and right click remain unresponsive.
Some possible fixes I’ve attempted:
- Checked if a keyboard shortcut or system shortcut is disabling the touchpad.
- Tried cleaning the buttons with an air blower and cloth; even before cleaning, they sounded normal.
- Updated, disabled, and re-enabled the touchpad; driver reinstallation also worked.
- Ran through settings, Device Manager, Armory Crate (Asus ROG “settings”), and other third-party apps like Power Tool, Nvidia/AMD software, and Logitech Hub. No unusual issues were found. I also checked the setting “use touchpad and mouse at the same time,” which was enabled.
Help needed! I’ve searched extensively but still can’t locate a solution.
Thanks in advance.
P.S.: If I switch to a mouse, the left and right click are recognized, but the touchpad clicks don’t work. Also, I’d like to use the laptop for about five minutes on public transport or while traveling without needing a mouse for quick tasks.
I own a gaming PC and a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop for everyday tasks. I’ve encountered the same issue you did, with the pad sticking and thinking a repair would be costly, so I switched to using this mouse.

My buttons aren't working properly – they're fine, but when pressed the clicks don't register in the system. This means the laptop thinks nothing was pressed, so it does nothing. At least until I restart the laptop, after which the left and right clicks are recognized again. However, the issue still happens occasionally.
