Microsoft is distributing Windows 10 through various programs, including free trials and extended license deals. They may offer licenses that are valid for a limited time, such as one year, rather than providing permanent perpetual access.

It looks like you're wondering about the upgrade policy for Windows 7 or newer. You mentioned a one-year free upgrade window, followed by potential charges later, but you're curious if this might be changing.

It's not a recurring fee, but you must purchase a license once your initial year is over.

The upgrade remains permanent, but the deal only covers a free upgrade for one year. Beyond that period, anyone wanting to upgrade will need to pay. Those who upgraded during the first year won’t have to cover costs after the year ends.

Check your expectations about the upgrade. Upgrading to Windows 10 typically requires a purchase, and there isn't usually a free trial period. Some plans may offer a limited free trial, but it's not standard. Confirm the details with the seller or provider.

W10 will release on March 5, 2015. All W7 and W8 users can switch to Windows 10 without cost if they do it before March 5, 2016. After that date, anyone who upgrades will have to pay a fee, similar to the €20 cost for upgrading from W7 to W8. Those who upgraded before March 5, 2016, will retain their free upgrade and can keep using Windows 10 afterward.
