Occasionally in games my frame rate will suddenly settle on a specific value, and can only be resolved by pressing the alt key. It tends to repeat over time. I’ve noticed it locks at 118, 112, or 90. If it drops down to 90 and I press alt again, it rises to the next higher locked number, then I have to press alt once more to reach the next value, until it stabilizes at 120. Could this be related to my monitor? Would a monitor even trigger something like this? I’m using V-Sync at 120 Hz with a 60Hz refresh rate. Also, I observed that disabling V-Sync with unlimited FPS eliminates the problem. It seems V-Sync is likely the cause, having used it for several years without issues before it disappeared.
