Hello,

I recently purchased a new computer for my son as a Christmas gift, but he’s experiencing constant crashes when attempting to play Fortnite. Here are the details of his PC configuration:

Processor: AMD RYZEN 7 3700X
Hard Drive: WD Blue 3D NAND SSD 1TB M.2 (SSD)
Graphics Card: MSI Radeon RX 590 ARMOR 8G OC
Memory: Corsair 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 Vengeance RGB PRO Series
Motherboard: ASRock X570 PHANTOM GAMING 4
Cooling System: SilentiumPC Navis RGB240 AiO
Power Supply Unit: Seasonic Focus Plus 1000 Gold
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro (build 18363.535)

The game consistently crashes after approximately ten minutes, displaying an error message in a pop-up window: "Application Crash Detected – The application has crashed and will now close. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

The specific error message we are receiving is:

Source
Windows
Summary
Hardware malfunction
Date
December 30, 2019 1:13 PM
Status
Unreported
Description
A hardware issue has caused Windows to operate incorrectly.
Problem Signature:
Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Code: 142
Parameter 1: fffff938aa8df4010
Parameter 2: ffffff80267fc09f0
Parameter 3: 0
Parameter 4: 203c
OS Version: 10.0.18363
Service Pack: 0_0
Product: 256_1
OS Version: 10.0.18363.2.0.0.256.48

I’ve attempted troubleshooting by reinstalling Windows, Fortnite, and the graphics drivers (using the most current version - 19.12.2), ensuring Windows is also fully updated. Despite these efforts, the problem persists and it’s incredibly frustrating.

What does it tell you if anything?

I'm unable to locate the hardware & devices troubleshooter, despite it failing to produce any suggested solutions. Please find attached logs from Event Viewer: [https://www.dropbox.com/s/h14sjl1357qkqw....evtx?dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/s/h14sjl1357qkqw....evtx?dl=0) and a reliability history: [https://www.dropbox.com/s/1lbkm07hoz4e1z...y.XML?dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/s/1lbkm07hoz4e1z...y.XML?dl=0). I observed warnings in EventViewer at 1:13 PM regarding FortniteClient being restricted from accessing graphics hardware, along with permission issues for a COM Server application. Specifically, the system denies Local Activation access to the user DESKTOP-KK5ITNP\Matko SID for CLSID {C2F03A33-21F5-47FA-B4BB-156362A2F239} and APPID {316CDED5-E4AE-4B15-9113-7055D84DCC97} originating from LocalHost. This permission can be adjusted via Component Services administrative tool. Additionally, a display driver (amdkmdap) experienced a momentary halt and subsequently recovered. The reliability report indicates PC instability at the same time. Could this be related? What steps can I take to resolve it?

Begin by opening a command prompt with administrator privileges and enter the command `sfc /scannow`. This process may require a period to complete. Subsequently, type: `DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth` followed by pressing Enter, then `DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth` and pressing Enter. Reboot your computer after these steps, and then attempt to run the game. Please inform me whether this resolved the issue.

The System File Checker successfully determined no integrity issues. Scan Health indicated no component store damage. Restore Health completed without error. I am going to restart, but will return shortly; I must depart for several hours.

The previous method proved unsuccessful, however, I have attempted this alternative (based on the MacInOhio response found at https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/foru...e1e3279901). It has been operational for approximately two hours without encountering a failure, and we will observe its stability over an extended period.

I encountered a similar issue recently. Is the resolution you found still effective for your situation?
