I've been using my PC for a few months now, and the settings I chose kept it very quiet while idle—just the main fans and exhaust moving softly. Recently, without updating my BIOS or making any changes, my fans are spinning a bit more than before, even when idle, though not at full speed. They're probably around 30% instead of the usual level. I use FanControl for managing the fans and kept it updated. I haven't adjusted the BIOS, AMD software, or anything else. I've tried turning them on and off a couple times, but nothing changed. Temperatures aren't spiking, and both my CPU and GPU are sitting around 35°C and 38°C at idle. The fans increase gradually but don’t activate until temperatures reach about 70°C. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I'm happy to share more details if needed.

You can control RPM beyond just fan speeds. I'm puzzled why you're upset about fans running at 30%—they usually stay off unless you limit the GPU. The issue is more about how quickly the system warms up, not just steady speed.

I wear open-back headphones and I really pick up any sound, especially around 50% distance from my ears.

I don't have an idea of the CPU model you're using. My 9900K can get quite hot when overclocked. The main issue with fans increasing is often because their curves depend on CPU temperature, causing them to fluctuate. Right now I'm using a custom loop with an inline coolant temperature sensor and fan curves that change based on fluid temperature. If your motherboard has a temperature sensor, connect it and see if you can adjust the radiator temperature settings accordingly.

Operating at 13700K without overclocking. FanControl monitors both CPU and GPU temperatures and increases fan speed when one reaches a higher temperature first.

Execute HWINFO64 and observe the temperatures; you'll notice the CPU fluctuating significantly.

I’ll verify, I just tracked my readings for about 15 seconds. The steady pace and consistent sound suggest it might be different from what I expected.

the actual usage isn't clear from the 35c reading alone; it could mean something is running more than usual. adjust fancurves if needed, but be aware of how dynamic they are. tldr: higher than normal usage indicates a problem—check what's consuming resources and use tools like hwinfo64 or taskmanager to identify the cause.

I verified everything was normal. Usage was around 3-4% CPU and 22% memory, with no big changes. After removing and readding FanControl, the issue disappeared. I really like Windows!
