Hi everyone! I have an external USB disk which is capable of 10Gbit USB3. I have a notebook and a PC and boot from this disk. On my notebook the speed is 10Gbit/s. I therefore know that the disk and cable is fine. Just to be sure I've also tried 2 other 10Gbit/s USB cables. Because I boot from the USB disk, the OS is also equal: Linux calvin 6.3.9-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed, 21 Jun 2023 20:46:20 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux . On my PC however I don't get the 10Gbit/s but only 5Gbit/s. I am 99% confident, that a few month ago I did have 10Gbit/s working, because I have screenshots where I measured the performance of the disk on my PC and my notebook. My motherboard only supports 5Gbit, which is why I bought a PCI USB3 (20Gbit/s) card with an ASM3242 USB 3.2 Host Controller. Apart from the graphics card I do not have any other PCIe cards installed. The currently installed version is F17 from 2023-06-08 (checksum: 66A6) The image attached is from the bios and shows some information about the PCIe lanes: PCIE Slot Info PCIEX16: PCIe 4.0 x8 @ 4.0 x8 PCIEX4: PCIe 3.0 x4 @ 3.0 x4 PCIEX1: N/A The PCIEX16 should be my graphics card and the PCIEX4 the USB3 20Gbit card. Hi everyone! I have an external USB disk which is capable of 10Gbit USB3. I have a notebook and a PC and boot from this disk. On my notebook the speed is 10Gbit/s. I therefore know that the disk and cable is fine. Just to be sure I've also tried 2 other 10Gbit/s USB cables. Because I boot from the USB disk, the OS is also equal: Linux calvin 6.3.9-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed, 21 Jun 2023 20:46:20 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux . On my PC however I don't get the 10Gbit/s but only 5Gbit/s. I am 99% confident, that a few month ago I did have 10Gbit/s working, because I have screenshots where I measured the performance of the disk on my PC and my notebook. My motherboard only supports 5Gbit, which is why I bought a PCI USB3 (20Gbit/s) card with an ASM3242 USB 3.2 Host Controller. Apart from the graphics card I do not have any other PCIe cards installed. The currently installed version is F17 from 2023-06-08 (checksum: 66A6) The image attached is from the bios and shows some information about the PCIe lanes: PCIE Slot Info PCIEX16: PCIe 4.0 x8 @ 4.0 x8 PCIEX4: PCIe 3.0 x4 @ 3.0 x4 PCIEX1: N/A The PCIEX16 should be my graphics card and the PCIEX4 the USB3 20Gbit card. Any help, suggestions welcome!
