Hello, I've been using Windows for over ten years and have usually managed to resolve any issues through StackOverflow, YouTube, and other resources. This is the first time I've encountered something similar and haven't found a solution online either. The issue involves my laptop running Windows 10 after an update to Windows 2004. Whenever I connect an external HDD, the blinking light stays on continuously as the drive warms up over time. It keeps reading or writing even when not in use. Previously, it didn’t happen unless the external drive was active. My HDDs are all functioning normally, and I’ve tried disabling Windows 10’s “fetch” service (Superfetch) without any effect. If this continues, my drives could become damaged or corrupted. Anyone have any advice? Thank you.

Hey Kilrah, I tried that too, but nothing appeared in the resource monitor even when the disk was connected. The only option seems to be formatting it and then reinstalling everything.

No, I'm not running HwInfo in the background.
