Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well today.
I recently assembled a new PC running Windows 10 with an ASUS Prime Z790-A WiFi motherboard and an Intel 2.5 Gb ethernet controller. When I built it last night, the Ethernet connection was functioning perfectly. I managed to play a few games, download files, and stream video without any problems.
This morning, when I powered on the machine, the Ethernet stopped working. Windows indicated that nothing was plugged in, and the green light near the Ethernet cable on my PC from the previous night was missing.
I tried connecting the cable to my laptop, which worked fine, so I suspected a driver issue. After uninstalling the drivers through Device Manager, the green light returned, but I still couldn't establish a connection.
When I reinstalled the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's site and then directly from Intel's website, the green light turned off again. Now I'm stuck with a much slower WiFi connection.
I believe this might be related to Windows 10, but I'm unsure of the exact steps to resolve it. Any advice or assistance would be incredibly helpful. Thank you!

Search for the driver for your Intel NIC at the provided link; then install it in an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator. I believe this could be related to a problem with Windows 10. What version of Windows 10 are you using?

if the green LED isn't visible next to the connector on your motherboard's ethernet port, it indicates the card isn't working correctly. The green light represents LINK, meaning the motherboard and the other end of the ethernet cable are connected and communicating.

After connecting everything and booting up the PC, I believe you should see a green light. If not, it might be a Windows issue.

Upgrading to Windows 11 and setting up one of these drivers resolved the problem. Appreciate it!
