Recently my download speeds on Steam were significantly reduced, between 20 and 30 Mbps. I changed the Ethernet ports on my router, and it now works properly. However, while researching the issue, I found that my Ethernet transmission speed remains consistently low across all four router ports. This suggests the problem lies with the router itself rather than my computer.

Tell me about your connection speeds in both directions. If you use cable internet, upload speeds are roughly a tenth of the download speed. It’s how it functions. Fiber typically matches this ratio—like 1GB fiber equals about 950 down and 950 up. There’s a detailed explanation, but I haven’t checked it myself.

Set up Wireshark, navigate to view > network addresses. Identify duplicate sites or suspicious actions to reduce upload usage.

In Wireshark, navigate to view > resolve network addresses. To display just websites, enter a DNS query in the empty filter box at the top and press enter.
