You've connected your Ethernet cable to the PC, but it doesn't activate when plugged in. It works with other devices like a laptop. This suggests the issue might be with the Ethernet port itself or the cable. Try using a different Ethernet cable or checking for any damage on the port. If problems persist, inspect the port for debris or corrosion.

Have you used the Ethernet port before? Have you connected it to another device? Is there a driver available? Is it turned on in the BIOS and operating system? Have you tested with a different cable? These are the key points to consider.

Never connected the ethernet port on my computer. I attempted to connect it to my laptop, and the lights indicated activity, suggesting it might be functional. I’m unsure about verifying driver installation or adjusting settings. I haven’t experimented with a different Ethernet cable.

This suggests the problem might be something unfamiliar. Generally yes, but certain software configurations could cause a cable to function on one system and not another. We should verify if the network adapter appears in the system settings. You can look under Network Connections or Device Manager for your adapter and confirm it's active. If Ethernet is off in Network Connections, right-click it and choose Enable from the options. If it remains disabled in BIOS, enabling it there might help, though this is usually not necessary. There are several reasons to turn off a network interface in BIOS, but for now we'll focus on the most probable cause. What kind of motherboard do you have? We'll begin with the most likely suspect. The driver.

The device model is Lenovo 3492H1Q and it is fully active on the network. Under network adapters it shows a Local Area Connection, Unplugged, with Realtek PCIE GBE controller. After running Windows diagnostic, it reports no Ethernet cable is connected.
