If the clip is damaged and won't be removed, consider using a paper clip to gently press the tab.

Ethernet cables, especially fresh RJ-45 connectors, can sometimes get a bit tangled. I’ll be honest—I usually just try to work through it by shaking, twisting, and moving it in different directions. Occasionally, pushing the clip fully down and pulling firmly helps. It’s best if the plastic gives way before the port itself.

Check if the cable’s end has a smooth, non-jammed boot that hides the tiny locking tab. Ensure it isn’t blocked so the tab stays in place. (I often cut away the rubber caps, particularly the dome ones.)
