I just booted up the EA app after months to update it and update apex legends. The moment i started updating the EA app, my entire home network dies. No internet on any devices in the home, wireless or wired both not working. i had to restart both my modem/router. Has this happened to anyone before? im afraid i got some bug in my network or my router is now infected or something from EA app because ive never heard of an app causing the router/modem to stop working. This is an issue outside the computer running EA app that affect actual hardware. Very scary. Should i be worried? in 30 years of gaming and being online, i've never had an app cause a full home network to not work. Issues would always be contained within the affected computer or device, not affect a whole network and other pieces of hardware outside the affected device. back to normal after restarting modem/router but im worried and scared to try updating again. and even afraid to use my router. how feasible is this fear?

When it occurs just once, it's likely random. If it happens consistently (something you can repeat) with EA, there must be a pattern behind it.

My question has two parts. Using the EA app often disrupts my network, so I don’t play games with it regularly. It only happens occasionally—like during a special free night when I wanted to play. I have other games if I need something different. Steam doesn’t have this problem. My main worry is whether an app on my computer, such as the EA app, could secretly install malware or viruses into my router’s memory and affect it.

I think you're focusing too much on the details. If it were the EA app causing this, they’d likely noticed and reported it more often. With games like Apex Legends, which have huge player bases, such issues would be widely covered in the media already.
