The drive starts immediately in Repair/Recovery mode.
I'm setting up a brand new SSD now. I have my programs, some big games, and the operating system. I wanted to keep Windows available in case I needed to revert later. The last step was granting permissions so my SSD could read files from my old Steam folder on the HDD. I powered off the laptop and adjusted the boot sequence to use the HDD, and the system immediately entered recovery mode. I attempted a chkdsk scan but encountered an error: "Failed to transfer logged messages to the event log with status 5." Bootrec /fixmbr worked without issues, but /fixboot was blocked. Bootrec rebuildbcd located the installation, though it reported the partition path wasn't found. Scans also detected Windows. When I used diskpart, the drive appeared as ##### and partitions listed as System, Recovery, etc. I can switch the boot order and function normally from the SSD, but my files remain on the HDD and aren't accessible through it. Any advice would be appreciated!
