It makes sense why your x5660 lags behind the e8400 at higher settings—performance drops noticeably when pushing it to single-core speeds.

If my memory isn’t fully broken, my x3360 at 4GHz performs similarly to an i5 750. My older e8600s at 4700 offered comparable core power to a stock Q6600. I only moved on from my x5690s because the 3770K still matched its vcore strength while using much less energy—especially in Cinebench. Many overlook the third channel, but it really hurts performance.
