My computer came with Windows 10 Anniversary Edition and initially functioned perfectly. Over time, issues arose making it impossible to log in. After updating to the Windows Creators Update, the problem persisted—games lagged even at the lowest settings. The restore window no longer offers a way back to that edition since the recovery period has ended. I’m wondering if performing a factory reset through the recovery options will restore my device to the original Windows 10 Anniversary version.
Essentially it reinstalls the operating system and reverts everything to its original factory configuration. Based on past experience, when you press the "get started" button, the PC will automatically restart with two choices: "keep my files" or "remove all data." Selecting either option leads to a screen showing the OS reinstallation progress in percentage terms. After several restarts, once the process completes, the system will restart again and then guide you to the login screen. Upon successful login, it brings you to the desktop where everything is reset to default settings.
You'll get the Windows 10 creators update during a factory reset, not the anniversary update you installed initially.
