I’m really struggling right now. I don’t understand much about computers, but I know something is seriously wrong. My PC shut down and went to sleep after a short break, which is normal. But whenever I tried to use it again, it would turn on but wouldn’t show anything after I moved the mouse. This kept happening often (except when the PC wouldn’t power on at all), so I ignored it and waited a few minutes until the mouse worked. That didn’t help, so I unplugged the mouse USB and plugged it back in. Still nothing. After about 30 minutes, I tried everything except changing the PSU or unplugging it. Nothing has fixed anything.
At first I just turned off the computer with a power button and nothing happened, so I removed all extra connections, reattached the display port, reset the monitor, but still nothing. Then I attempted a hard reset by holding the power button, which revealed the button wasn’t working at all. I tried pressing the small reset button next to it as a last resort, but even that didn’t help.
My PC isn’t responding and can’t display anything. I’m worried about using the PSU switch or unplugging it, but I have no idea what else to do. It hasn’t even gone to sleep by itself, and it’s been over 30 minutes. If I have to use the PSU switch, how safe is that for my system? Is there another way to fix these problems without seeing the screen? Thank you…
Your PC components should remain safe if you unplug the power source. I believe your laptop entered a hibernation state and became unresponsive. Please try responding to KB or the power button wake-up feature with just one tap, rather than a hard shutdown—this is typical behavior. Regarding software, only unsaved files open simultaneously are at risk; you should be concerned about them. In terms of operating systems, hibernation and/or pagefile issues might cause corruption (such as cache or memory leaks). Which versions usually recover best? After the system restarts, adjust Windows power settings to turn off hibernation and sleep mode for drives.
