The desktop PC may fail to power on right away after pressing the power button.
Desktop PCs occasionally fail to power on immediately after pressing the power button, sometimes taking a few seconds or even minutes.
I purchased this PC about a year ago, and the issue began roughly a week ago.
Occasionally, pressing the power button results in no start, a delayed start, or an immediate turn-on. I haven’t identified the cause yet.
Recently, changing the power cable resolved the problem, so it might have been the cable. However, it happened again the next day.
When the PC doesn’t turn on right away, I’ve tried unplugging the power cable, waiting a short time, then plugging it back in—this time it works instantly.
I’m concerned about the power supply and wonder if it needs replacement.
EDIT: I should note that the PC functions perfectly once it’s turned on.
What power supply and motherboard are you employing? Verify whether the power button is malfunctioning.
To verify if the power button is working properly, you can gently press it while monitoring the system's response. If it activates correctly, the issue may lie elsewhere.
Use a jumper connecting the power button pins to the motherboard
When the reset button is activated, connect the wires from the motherboard to the power switch location. Then operate the reset switch to power it up.
I've attempted to "jumpstart" it and believe it's not related to the power button. I've also tried various other methods, such as turning it off via the power button, switching it to sleep mode, and waking it up through the power button. Restarting through the Windows taskbar worked fine. Additionally, I moved it to another outlet in my house, but the problem continues.
Returning to this discussion, I've identified the problem. The BIOS Flashback is activating without cause. I've observed the green indicator on the BIOS flashback blinking during replication of the issue. When the flashback light is off, the PC starts up smoothly. The button doesn't appear stuck, would be helpful if it could be turned off automatically.
