The default spot for the snipping tool in Windows 10 is usually the system tray or the application launcher. When you press the shortcut, it may prompt you to pick a save location unless you manually set it. If the snip doesn’t save automatically, ensure the file path is correct and try using the keyboard shortcut again.

You have to save it at which point you can choose where it goes. You can also just "control + c" and then paste it elsewhere. Many apps support pasting into them and it will work as expected (forum included).

This occurs when using the keyboard shortcut after cutting a portion of the screen, and no save or option is available. The item vanishes without any record being kept. In the MyPuctures folder, the same file also cannot be located.

It’s unclear what you’re asking about. I’m not familiar with any system-level shortcuts that operate the snipping tool without opening the app.

I checked the details and noticed it was referenced in a footnote on one website. I tried it myself and encountered the same issue. It seems the feature might not be widely used or recognized. If you save the screen with Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows) or Command+Shift+P (Mac), it usually works, but this doesn’t appear to be the case here.

It's sad since I'm facing the same problem, but my Print Screen works while yours doesn't seem to function properly.

I created a solution just for this task since I wasn’t aware Windows offered this feature. It seems it’s still limited, so I’ll stick to my own approach for now.

Run it quietly in the background. No visual cues indicate it’s active. Just press both Alt keys, drag the desired region, and release. The clipping will show up as a bitmap on your desktop. Screenshot.exe
