I bought a Deepcool AS500 Plus paired with a Gigabyte 570s Aero G motherboard. It turns out the AM4 mounting brackets are marginally too big for installation, as shown in the attached photo. The curved grey metal on the right, which feels uneven, is a heatsink connected to the board. Between that grey part and the CPU sits the silver C-shaped cooler bracket. Notice it rests atop the grey metal because the bracket is slightly oversized. Measuring the gap between brackets, it requires about 86mm of space, meaning the distance between their edges must be reduced by a few millimeters on this model. Have you encountered similar problems before? Which air coolers use a tighter mounting profile? Should I opt for a water cooler instead, thinking they typically have simpler hardware?

As shown in the image, the bend should be positioned away from the socket, which is the proper method for installation.
I misinterpreted the problem. The issue lies with the bracket affecting the heatsink, not with alignment. I also missed the correct orientation of your photo. I assumed the black part was a RAM heatsink, but it’s actually the opposite. Many air coolers use brackets that match the AMD mounting style—north and south relative to the socket, not east and west. The Scythe Fuma 2 I just bought seems to fit this setup.
