The D3D device is missing...
Hey everyone, I wanted to let you know this might not be the right place since this is my first post here. It seems like a software problem. I recently encountered a motherboard failure and had to replace the motherboard, RAM, CPU, and PSU. The system is running well and appears stable. My main issues occur when playing Steam games or during BF3. I can launch the games fine, but after about 10 minutes of play the game crashes with an error like "Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost." There’s a lot more text after that which could help diagnose the problem. I’ve checked my Steam files, updated them, installed fresh graphics drivers, and adjusted GPU settings as recommended in many YouTube videos, but nothing has resolved it. Any suggestions from you would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Have you restored your operating system following the transition to the updated system?
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! It seems whether this was a direct swap of your current setup or an upgrade depends on more details from you. Please share the system specifications.
Yes, it was an improvement over my old setup, using some reused components.
New additions:
Asus ROG strix Z690-A Gaming wifi D4 Motherboard
Intel I7 12700k CPU
Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200mhz ram (operates at 2133mhz, increasing to 3200mhz triggers boot loops)
Corsair RMX 850x modular PSU
-Corsair H100x AIO Cooler
Recycled items:
Geforce gtx 1070 GPU
500gb Samsung 860 EVO (OS installed)
1TB Samsung 860 EVO
1TB western digital HDD
I hope I spelled that clearly so it’s easy to understand, lol.
I just experienced an issue on bf3. The message read: Directx function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG: Device hung due to badly formed commands. GPU: "Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070", Driver: 51659.
I won't do it today, but I've placed an order for a new 2TB M2 drive for my operating system tomorrow.
