Hi, I need help with my D-Link DSL2877AL modem... it has a USB port that is locked in the firmware for my country. Is there a way to customize the firmware or is there a firmware out there that could enable the port? By the way, I want to use the port for SMB (file sharing) from an external hard drive.

It's that old and slow router with USB 2.0. You'd save time by getting a new modem and a modern router instead of trying to fix this one.

You don't have to change the USB port. Most DLink stuff works with whatever firmware you have, no matter where on Earth it comes from.
