I recently assembled a PC for a client who’s experiencing temperature spikes and crashes. The original configuration included a Ryzen 7 5800X (later upgraded to a Ryzen 9 3900X), an MSI RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio, ASUS Prime X470 Pro motherboard, 32GB Teamgroup T-Force Delta RGB RAM, a 1TB Teamgroup MP33 NVMe drive, and a Deepcool LS720 SE AIO case. The system runs Windows 10 22H2 with the latest BIOS updates. The BIOS indicates the customer played Fortnite, then reported a brief freeze, followed by a temperature reading of 111°C on the AIO, after which the system crashed. Initially, I suspected the CPU was faulty since the 5800X tends to overheat, so I swapped it out for a Ryzen 9 3900X, which maintained cooler temperatures around 78°C in AIDA64. The issue recurred, leaving me puzzled. Could the AIO or motherboard be the culprit? Any thoughts on possible causes and next steps? This could work sometimes, but the PSU isn't sufficient for a 3070TI.

Yeah, the BQ struggles with sudden power surges. That’s the main point I was making. It’s probably the only reason I brought it up—it could be fixed, but it’s not reliable and there’s a big chance of crashes, BSODs, etc. I wouldn’t focus much on customers saying things get too hot unless they provide proof like screenshots.
Consider trying the 3000 series for its strong transient power bursts, though not every PSU manages them well—even reputable brands can struggle. I’d go with an RMIX 650W model; they’re reported to handle these spikes almost flawlessly (my unit is nearly identical).
We swapped in a different power supply, specifically the Super Flower Legion GX Gold PRO 850W 80+ Gold. Someone just mentioned it happened again—reports say he was playing Fortnite and the temperature rose. He noticed the reading jump to 94, then spiked to 112 before the PC failed. I’m not sure what’s going on. Anyone else have suggestions?
