The cursor shifts between colors now. It worked after a restart, but it's still bothersome. Windows 11 on an Asus X16 laptop.

Verify the mouse settings using: WIN + I > Devices > Mouse. Review the options and attempt the troubleshooter. Consider reinstalling the mouse drivers as well.

No device settings appear after clicking win + i, and it's unclear if reinstalling drivers would assist.

It's a fresh hue now. Similar to a deep red. Changed from black to red.

Bluetooth and devices > Mouse > Extra mouse settings and mouse pointer
If the issue persists, it could be a virus—run a scan.
