I've been using this kind of RAM since 2021, but unfortunately the exact model no longer appears. TEAMGROUP T-Force Dark Z 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 288-pin module (gray) - TDZGD416G3200HC16CDC01. I'm curious if adding this brand and speed would cause any problems. The 32GB version seems fine, just a different listing name.
You're asking about its purpose. For instance, AM4 CPUs perform best with 3600MT RAM, though I'm not sure about Intel. Recently, I upgraded my i5 12400 NAS with 4x32GB of 3600MT and it functioned well. It seems less important to stick strictly to RAM brands since manufacturers typically source chips from just a few companies. I tend to change between Crucial and Corsair based on price at the moment.
This BIOS seems to list 2400MHz, even though it matches the RAM I’ve been using. I’m currently in single stick mode, so maybe it’s only reading underclocked speeds.
And purchasing another XMP kit doesn’t necessarily mean you need to match it, since they’re all random products. Even if you buy the same kit later, it will likely have a different chipset. The only exceptions are brands tied directly to the manufacturers themselves—like Klevv for Hynix, Crucial for Micron, and Elixir for Nanya. These two seem to be the main ones these days. I’m not sure if Elixir supports DDR3 anymore, and it’s unclear whether it extends to DDR4 or beyond. The big players are Samsung, Hynix, and Micron. There are other companies such as Elpida, Nanya, Powerchip, Promos, etc., but they’re much smaller and less common. This makes things tricky when components like DDR4 Nanya die or PSC X on DDR3 come up. Your XMP stick isn’t working either; it needs to be enabled to reach 3200 MHz. Since RAM speeds are limited by the CPU’s capabilities, I doubt you’ll have trouble getting 4000 MHz on four sticks—most will handle around 3800, and some high-end chips can push higher, though they’re rare. As for RAM upgrades, if you need help identifying the correct chipset, share a screenshot of your XMP setup. That way you can ensure compatibility and avoid extra tuning. If you must tune, consider swapping in a more capable board like the HMA82G6DR8N instead.
