Hi everyone,
OpenHardware Monitor has consistently provided clear CPU core and temperature data in its widget. Recently, however, it ceased displaying these values unexpectedly, even after no updates or installations. I also tried LibreHardware Monitor without success. Sidebar Diagnostics didn’t help either. The CPU core information appears briefly after Windows boots, then freezes and eventually shows a "-". The same happens with the CPU temperature. Both LibreHardware Monitor and OpenHardware Monitor are displaying "-" instead of actual readings. All other monitoring tools still function properly. I’m looking for someone to help identify what’s causing this issue. Thanks.

Why, it's free! It's also regarded as the top choice among similar programs.
With other open-source options, updates might be slower due to potential bugs. For the open hardware monitor, it appears it hasn't been refreshed since 2020!?
Could you share your complete system specifications? Are you using Linux or Windows?

Why? I don't care, that's enough. I'm not interested in debating whether I should love or not HWInfo, but I just need to understand why something that has been functioning well for years is now not working. For scientific reasons, if you're interested.
Speaking about it, the system specifications haven't changed much, including the same Intel i7 CPU, Nvidia 1060 GPU, 32MB RAM, SSDs, NVMe. It doesn't matter, my friend, because everything worked fine until yesterday and my system stayed the same.
I strongly think it's related to a driver or software issue, but I can't figure it out.
I'm using Windows 11 Pro and it's up to date.

I didn't intend to express any preference, just that it performs better than those other apps and seems to work as expected.
You've highlighted a possible software problem, maybe related to a native Windows application that could be interfering with drivers or causing sensor issues. It seems the sensors might not be being read properly, or they could be missing from the CPU board.
Since other applications report temperatures and CPU stats correctly, the issue likely lies in the software. One of them hasn't been updated since 2020.
It might be worth trying to run the System File Checker and DISM tools, and checking for any corrupt Windows files.

It seems that without sensors in the CPU motherboard, app values wouldn't appear. I'm puzzled about why certain apps can read these values while others can't, and whether they can be collected from multiple sources. I tried refreshing the BIOS, using Windows update daily, and ran SFC and DISM. I'm planning to boot with only essential components without any software, to check for differences. If I recall correctly, the last time I did that I encountered an issue with a Windows service during login.

No, they all read from the same sensors.
Yeah, that's a good idea. Try safe mode boot, and check. Without any error log, there's not much to go from. DO the apps you use have logs you can output?

Also, after updating the bios, be sure to clear the CMOS afterwards. This might be the cause of the problem.

After two days of struggling with my computer, I exhausted all possible solutions—checking my knowledge, exploring the web, reaching out to the developer on GitHub, trying various fixes. Eventually, I had to reset the system and reinstall Windows, as it was acting strangely even on other programs. I’m certain there were no viruses, since Kaspersky scanned everything and found no suspicious processes. Thank you for your assistance, though I regret not being able to help the community in a similar situation. Sorry for wasting your time. Your support means a lot 🙏

Glad to offer advice. You're certainly not wasting time. Did the OS reinstall work?
Let us know if there's anything else we can help with

@Roland Of Gilead
Yes, everything is now functioning properly except for the "restore previous folder windows at logon" feature, which isn't reopening open windows. Frustrating...
Thank you again for your assistance and kindness.
