So last week I boosted my FX-4300 from 3.8ghz stock to 4.6ghz in bios and raised the voltage to 1.38 volts. However, when I opened Windows it would crash every time I played. After checking, I found the voltage was stuck at 1.3 volts instead of increasing, which caused the crashes. Using Overdrive helped temporarily, bringing it up to about 1.36 and improving performance for a while before games. Recently, raising the voltage above 1.3 resulted in poor performance, and the Task Manager shows it settling around 3.37ghz or even 1.4. I’m new to overclocking, so it’s likely clear what’s happening, but I really appreciate any advice.

Are you experiencing thermal throttling on your CPU? Review the temperatures and confirm your cooling solution can handle the required power levels.
