Maximus x Hero (wifi) i7 8700k 3.7ghz (liquid cooling)
16gb vengeance LPX 3000hz c15
960 m.2 ssd
gtx 1070
750W Gold+
I've been adjusting the system at 5ghz with AVX target at 4.8ghz, staying stable during stress tests at 90-95c. Under load, it crashes when playing games. I checked default settings to see if it would handle games better, but I'm not sure. It seems the issue isn't with optimal defaults either.

Why is my CPU running faster?
2) The crash happens during games even though they don't fully utilize the system, unlike stable tests.

The normal turbo boost range operates effectively. Variations in performance rely on the number of cores involved. This is quite complex; we'll need to analyze the issue step by step. Does the system stop functioning without the overclock?

I'm experiencing issues with those games right now. I'll let you know what's happening.
I notice and I'm trying to figure out if turning off turbo mode would keep me at base speed? I assumed that, but I'm curious if it could be due to hardware damage from overclocking. I haven't pushed the overclock much.

I think it might have been a shaky original character, so going back should restore it to normal. Tell me what you think.

That's what I was expecting, but it's not typical. It seems like it's automatically increasing to stock levels. Do you think that's usual? I'll keep you updated on the crashing.

Hey there! So I just tried one of the games that would crash, but it didn't actually crash. Now I'm just adjusting my OC profile.
