At 0.78ghz it stops working almost completely because of the extreme slowdown.

A lot of these workstations cause issues, like the battery losing its charge or needing to be removed and reinserted to fix the problem.

Laptop model: Dell Precision 5520 – though it’s not the best choice. Operating system: Windows 11 RAM: 16GB GPU: NVIDIA Quadro M1200 (4GB GDDR5 dedicated memory) CPU: Intel Core i7-7820HQ (2.90GHz). I also recently installed Windows 11, which might have contributed to the lag while writing this. It’s been really frustrating and now it feels almost unusable.

You'd likely need to remove the entire unit, possibly unscrewing it completely.

Yes, I checked both the CPU and GPU temperatures. Neither of them is unusually high.

I didn't track them, honestly, I'm not sure what to do.

Download hwinfo64 and choose sensors on demand. Check if temperatures stay above 60-70s during idle and reach 100°C while gaming. You can let the app run quietly in the background.

//www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-throttlestop/. Press the Limits button to access the Limit Reasons window. Capture a screenshot of ThrottleStop with the window open while your CPU stays at that speed. The most frequent causes are BD PROCHOT throttling or power limit restrictions. Certain Dell models employ an integrated controller (EC) that sets turbo power caps to zero, causing the CPU to freeze at its lowest setting. This kind of throttling can occur anytime and under any temperature. It might stem from a faulty sensor providing wrong data to the EC. Some Dell problems resolve after proper ThrottleStop configuration. Also share screenshots of the FIVR and TPL windows so I can review your settings.

The laptop is running at a much higher frequency today, and I received a warning from throttlestop suggesting I use it at my own risk, which is a bit worrying. Right now it’s almost impossible to use normally, and it’s taken me longer than expected to capture these images and write this due to the lag.
