Have you come across any reports of a CPU affecting the second memory channel on a motherboard? I own a system with a 10th gen i5 that had issues with the second memory channel, but I assumed it was the motherboard. Another system uses a 10th gen Pentium Gold and both channels worked until I swapped in the i5 from the first system. Now the second channel doesn’t function, even after switching back to Pentium Gold. Do CPUs have the ability to damage memory channels? I’ve never heard of it before. When I test both setups with a second stick, the fans speed up and the system shuts down. If that happens again, could it mean a broader motherboard failure is coming?
I'd say it is more likely that the cooler you're using has a mounting problem that is causing uneven contact with the pads/pins, assuming there's no physical damage.
Check the pins for missing/damaged pins. It's either than or the CPU has a defect.
I've noticed cpu memory and mainboard interfering with each other, and replacing one or two components still causes the remaining parts to fail.
