Motherboard model: GA Z77X-UD3H. Old CPU: i3 3240. New CPU: i5 3670k. I attempted an upgrade but accidentally damaged some pins. After plugging it in, capacitors burst and the machine stopped working. I removed the new processor and found a black spot on the pads. My concern is whether it will work with another LGA1155 board. I’m worried about short circuits affecting the motherboard. Please advise.

The only certainty is to take the chance and attempt it.

The model isn't 3670K but 3570K. If the blown caps are in place or bent pins are touching, it's likely you damaged your motherboard and CPU.

It should probably function. If it fails, it won't harm the new motherboard.
