I've never encountered this before without malware. The desktop core clock and memory clock are fluctuating wildly, jumping to 100% and then dropping again. I recently reset my PC, so it's unclear if this has always been happening or is a new issue. The system runs 13700k MSI Z790 Aorus Elite with 32 GB RAM, Corsair Rmx 850, and the latest BIOS for the MSI Rtx 4070ti Gaming Trio. Even without confirmation, it seems unusual.

GPU will also refrain from posting when gaming bios are chosen, silent posts are acceptable.

Essentially a fresh operating system with Steam, Discord and runtime tools. The odd thing is that despite clock speeds increasing, power consumption stays minimal—around 5-10%.

It seems to be a minor issue tied to how the boost function operates. The desktop likely used GPU acceleration briefly, which might have temporarily increased the card's load but kept usage low. I wouldn't worry unless GPU consumption stayed high during inactivity. I'd be worried about the BIOS failing to start, possibly indicating a need for a firmware update.

It seems like you were expecting power consumption to be low, but it's been running for more than an hour without any problems. The temperature stayed around 61°C and the power draw was only 270 watts. I regret missing the EVGA experience, especially after a bad run with an MSI 2070 Super. Thanks for keeping me calm.

It often comes from tasks like video decoding, which only uses the decoder block and doesn’t draw much power or stress the GPU. Unless you’re dealing with GPU decoding, it might look like a glitch or just the desktop rendering. When you tell the GPU to work, it tends to boost performance, but if it doesn’t know what you’re doing or how long, early boosting followed by longer sustained boosts can lower the chance of lag when it needs to drop back. The whole process happens quickly, making it hard to detect unless monitoring tools capture it frequently.
