So my ps3 has been going crazy for 3 months, freezing, randon turn-offs, and blank screen. So on topic now... My ps3 has been doing things that drive me crazy, it has been freezing, shutting off ramdomly, and blank screens. I dropped my ps3 twice first one was not that bad... Only a few scratches. Second drop was fatal it made a big scratch and that was when the freezing happend. I then started to realize that the only way to turn on my ps3 was to insert a disc that had no smudges or scratches. I searched up youtube videos on how to fix my ps3 but it still didnt work i need help. But sometimes it would turn on then imediatly turn off 1st image is first drop. 2nd image is second drop.

It's not the surface damage. Something inside is likely faulty. Probably the hard drive or the Blu-ray unit. The scratches seem more about appearance than actual issues.

You probably broke the disc drive, so the only option is to get a new one.

You found another potential issue related to the main parts such as the CPU or motherboard. Is there any overheating? Are the fans making a lot of noise? Are any warning signs appearing on the screen before it fails?

It seems like you're looking for a used PlayStation 3 without any games. You mentioned you could get one for around $40 locally. You might also consider selling your own console as broken for about $20.

It was the original PlayStation 3 that experienced GPU problems.

It seems you might have harmed the heat sink mount or fans, leading to overheating. As Twilight mentioned, the PS3 already faced GPU problems, so this could just be a coincidence. I think it’s likely the GPU will need the heat sink reattached—if nothing else is broken—or new fans installed, then the GPU might be fixed. Repairing it or buying tools would probably cost more than just purchasing another console.
