The connection isn't secure, and your Steam chat stopped functioning after the Windows update.
I hadn't updated the system in a while and everything functioned smoothly until recently I chose to upgrade. Everything proceeded without issues; the overall performance remained stable. The only issue was that many websites were failing to connect due to "NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID" errors across all browsers. Platforms such as Reddit, YouTube, Google, and Steam (including chat) operated normally, though the Vulkan SDK domain worked but the download section didn't. Numerous other sites displayed privacy warnings. On my smartphone everything was functioning correctly. I also reset network settings to defaults and reinstalled drivers, but that didn't resolve the problem. Build details: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Windows 10 Pro, version 20H2, OS build 19042.1237.
Adjust the clock and date settings on your computer, then restart the applications. The NET::ERR_CERT_ DATE_INVALID message suggests the PC's time/date is incorrect or websites are using expired/invalid SSL certificates.
Relies on the platform. Chrome will be used as the main reference because Edge and OperaGX appear to share similar problems. I’ll include the error message from Steam chat (store and forum) and also mention games such as Genshin Impact or Discord, which function without issues. A few sites with warnings still allow access via the advanced button, though this isn’t reliable in most cases like the one attached here.
Could this be the reason for the problem? Uncertain if Steam's chat implements this feature.
The issue lies with the certificate displayed.
Recent reports highlight problems where a Root CA certificate from Let's Encrypt lapsed on September 2021.
Additionally, Shopify users faced challenges after their certificate expired due to LETs encryption.
It might be connected to the problem, even though everything appears to function on your phone. The same internet connection is used across all sites, yet the second link doesn’t work on your PC while it does on your phone. This inconsistency could indicate an issue with server response or network handling.
It seems logical that Letsencrypt permits access through that certificate while others don’t. Are you running a proxy on your computer?
