I understand you're looking for a method to ensure your system always uses the AC protocol rather than N. It seems like you're primarily interested in forcing AC instead of N. I'll help clarify how this can be addressed.

You might want to install the drivers from the link provided: https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/PCEAC..._Download/. This card lists "ASUS PCE-AC56 Utility 2.1.3.8". It’s likely you can discover additional options within that tool.

I possess the newest drivers and a utility tool that only lets me switch channels, not protocols. While adjusting the channel can sometimes ease issues due to varying traffic levels, the connection remains inconsistent.

I can inform you about the available settings but I don’t have the ability to provide screenshots. You’ll need to check the options directly on the system. There are possibilities to enable 5GHz or disable 40GHz, adjust network configurations, and even use a Wi-Fi extender that builds on the main router’s signal. Some users have shared their experiences online, including tweaks for ASUS USB AC56 adapters and discussions about AC connections in Windows 10.
