The configuration of my network leads to problems.
My configuration details. The modem connects via a single cable to both the TP-Link WR940N (for downstairs) and the IPTV STB. From the 940N, the cable goes to the TP-Link WR841N for upstairs use, which links to your PC through an Ethernet cable. For three years the 940N was connected to the WAN port of the 841N. Recently, I tried a forum suggestion: plug the internet cable from the 940N into the LAN port on the 841N router. After switching, the 940N now displays an internal IP address instead of my external one. I can still reach the Calix modem from my PC, but my external IP appears only in Calix’s settings. I’m facing gameplay issues after the cable switch and have searched online for solutions. Some advice mentioned disabling NAT or enabling bridge mode, but those options aren’t available on the device. I also tried connecting a direct Ethernet cable from the 940N to the 940N’s LAN port, but it didn’t work. I even enabled DMZ on the 940N, yet the problem persists. I’m stuck and would appreciate your guidance. What caused the settings to shift so that the IP address changed? How can I prevent double NAT?
I'm confused about your issue and unsure how to help. Could you clarify what you're facing? I'll do my best to explain or provide guidance.
Previously, the internet cable from 940N connected to the WAN port of 841N, but I couldn't transfer content to AndroidTV from my PC. Switching it to the LAN port of 841N resolved the issue. This means I have double NAT between 841N and 940N. When accessing 940N directly, its gateway displayed an external IP assigned by the ISP. After connecting via LAN, the 940N gateway showed IP 10.0.0.2. Despite this, I still experience double NAT with a Calix modem on 940N, leading to connection problems in certain online games. Are there any configuration changes I can make on either router or modem to restore proper casting and eliminate these issues?
