I was gaming in FF14 when suddenly my computer crashed and wouldn't turn on after pressing the power button. I waited a few hours and tried again. This time it started up, but the screen was blank. I've done these steps: unplugged and reconnected every cable, used both my monitor and TV with HDMI and what seems to be DisplayPort 1.2 (only one corner has a 90-degree cut), double-checked connections, switched between my new RX 6700 XT and old Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro graphics cards, booted with just one RAM stick at a time in different slots, cleared CMOS for each card, swapped the CMOS battery, and when I pressed power all fans spun up and some motherboard lights lit. My current specs are: 2 LPX Vengeance DDR4 3200 MHz, 8GB RAM sticks, Corshair HX750i power supply, RX 6700 XT graphics card, a Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro AMD Ryzen 3600 before that, and an Asus Prime B450-PLUS motherboard. I'm not very experienced fixing PCs, so I don't know much about the problem. I haven't applied new thermal paste yet since it was last about 2.5 years ago (when both CPU and board were purchased), so it probably isn't that old. Also, I'm pretty sure it was Arctic Silver 5. What might be causing this?
You're wondering why the focus is on the power supply rather than the CPU. It makes sense because without a working CPU, the screen won't display anything, and a failed CPU would also cause the computer to shut down. This reasoning highlights the importance of the CPU's role in basic functionality.
Hey... Computers seem odd sometimes. Turns out the dust in my RAM sticks or slots was the issue. Thanks for your time!
