Hello,
I’m facing occasional unexpected shutdowns on my PC. It tends to happen during gameplay—especially when I’m using both a game and an internet browser simultaneously. When I switch tabs between them, the screen goes dark and then the PC shuts down completely. Even when I run the games alone, these shutdowns still occur.

In detail, here’s what happens:
The fans begin to make noise, the PC powers down for a couple of seconds before restarting.
My setup includes five fans, with an open top and side design. It seems overheating isn’t the cause.

Components:
- ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. TUF Z370-PLUS GAMING
- Intel Core i7 8700
- WDC WD40EZRZ-00GXCBO
- Samsung SSD 960 EVO 500GB
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
- Power Supply: 850 W

I’ve visited several computer stores, and they all confirm the same issue: after stress tests, the machine passes without any problems. They simply say, “We’ve run all sorts of tests and everything works fine.”

When I try to recreate the situation at home, after about an hour of playing a random game, the shutdown happens again.
The Windows Event Viewer shows: KERNEL POWER 41

I’ve gone through the troubleshooting steps and cleaned the PC thoroughly. All drivers are up to date, and my CPU temperature is between 43–49°C when idle, rising to 60–75°C during games (60–75°C for GPU, 70–83°C during gaming).

I’m open to any advice or actions you might recommend to help resolve this problem.
Thank you for your time.

Yes, it's possible.
It's usually not, but occasional updates can improve compatibility and stability.
Before assuming anything, check if you're using the latest BIOS for your graphics card.
Sometimes BIOS updates enhance memory performance and system reliability.

If you install a BIOS update, test again. If problems persist, verify whether your RAM is set to XMP mode or not.
Disabling XMP might help with troubleshooting.

I'm constantly worried about a bad RAM stick when it randomly restarts or causes BSODs. Please let me know how many sticks you have (assuming two), and try your most consistent test with just one stick installed. After that, repeat with the other stick installed.

Thanks for the suggestion!
I have two 8gb sticks right now.
I'm currently testing the second one while it's still working.
The first stick lasted all day, but I got a crash when leaving Borderlands 3.
I removed it and put the second stick in separately.
I'm trying to recreate the problem, though it's hard to do consistently.
I'll update soon.
Cheers.

So my computer just stopped working again on the 2nd stick.
I was playing Path of Exile.
I'm really confused right now...
I've done several computer scans with Norton, and everything comes back clean.
I have no idea what might be causing this...
Also, I ran Memtest86 while both RAM sticks were installed. It ran overnight, and when I woke up, I noticed the crash happened about 2.5 hours after I started the program.
Could it be that both RAM sticks are damaged?
