When attempting to overclock the CPU, my machine occasionally runs for hours before randomly powering down. It stops even when not in use or performing tasks like word processing.

I made the changes to the BIOS and it appears to have resolved the issue. Appreciate it.

Model and make of the PSU, along with its age, are noted. Besides the ratios, voltage adjustments were made for the CPU. It's recommended to have the most recent BIOS for your MSI Z97 chipset board. Are you using the latest BIOS version?
