Recently my computer has been behaving strangely. It only occurs while gaming and doesn’t seem to matter what game I play. In the first hour of gaming, my screen will suddenly go black for a second before returning. This usually happens twice, but after that it works fine for hours of play. Occasionally the whole system shuts down completely without a blue screen. All these issues appear within the first hour or so, then everything resumes. I’ve also experienced one game crashing (Guild Wars 2) without generating a proper crash report. When checking event logs for random shutdowns, I see a Kernel-Power source report with ID 41. Could it be my power supply unit, graphics card, or motherboard that’s facing power problems? If so, how can I identify the exact component without replacing them one by one?
The issue is probably due to a faulty power connection. It might be the PSU power cord entering the wall or one of the internal connectors on the motherboard or GPU. A PCI-E cable could also be the culprit, as it stops your screen but shouldn't shut down the computer. I’d inspect all the cables and swap them out if they’re replaceable.
