Good afternoon. I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 3 3600X to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. Before doing so, I consulted a technician at my local computer store about whether any other upgrades were necessary before installation. After being told to confirm and update my motherboard’s BIOS to avoid boot issues, I proceeded with the installation. So far, everything seems to be working, but problems arise only when I switch tabs or close a game. Each time I do that, my computer freezes, preventing me from launching or closing apps. I’ve tried resetting the system, using Google, performing a factory reset, and even shutting it down completely. I’ve also checked memory diagnostics, driver updates, and power supply settings, but nothing resolves the issue. I’m currently running the Ryzen 7 5700X3D on an Aorus x570 Elite Wi-Fi motherboard, paired with an MSI 3060 Ti graphics card, a 16GB RAM module, and a Gigabyte 850W gold power supply. Several suggestions have been offered—such as a more powerful power supply or BIOS updates—but the technician clarified it wasn’t the problem, as it matches my power needs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Check if it's the same Windows version as the original install. If yes, it might be a driver issue—similar problems occurred when upgrading from 6700 to 9400f and ending up with Ubuntu. It could also stem from an app, like Phasmophobia not working well with alt+tabbing in fullscreen. Alternatively, it might just be Windows updating itself.
Try executing the command as an administrator and using CHKDSK to check for issues, but my top choice would be launching windowed borderless to observe the behavior. Just to confirm if the games are acting strangely.
Aorus x570 wifi elite offers advanced connectivity and performance for your needs.
Ensure the correct chipset drivers are included, not only the BIOS.
