I attempted to clarify this situation. I constructed the current system in 2022, transferring only a 250gb SSD drive. That SSD was the one from my previous PC running Windows. On my latest build, I installed Windows using an M.2 NVMe drive. Yesterday, my PC crashed and when I tried to boot, the password displayed was outdated, along with changes to the desktop background and icons. I discovered it was actually booting from the old 250gb SSD instead of the one I normally use. Checking the BIOS confirmed the NVMe was prioritized, but the system still started from that card. Removing the card prevented the boot entirely.

It’s also important to note that my 2TB backup drive was completely erased recently. However, it seems some OS files on the NVMe may have become corrupted, preventing it from being recognized as a bootable device. I’m hoping to be able to boot from the NVMe again, as it would allow access to my user profile and all my accounts, emails, website logins, and game downloads stored there.

A few additional points: I don’t have any saved recovery points available, none of the repair tools I tried had write access, I lack permission to interact with that NVMe, and I’ve moved it to another slot without success. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Consider resetting the CMOS. If the NVMe appears damaged, the main option is to attempt recovery on another device, though success rates remain slim. Regarding the 2TB drive, think about why it might be erased. Are you certain?
