Hello there. I'm new to the forum and trying to figure out what's going wrong with my PC. It was built when the 2080ti came out. I have an ASUS ROG Strix gaming board (the exact model isn't clear), a 9900K processor with a NXT Kraken 360mm AIO, 32GB of RAM. Usually I leave it on overnight, but this morning when I opened it, everything seemed off. The CPU fan error light appeared when I turned it on. When I checked the manual, I saw the AIO was connected to the CPU fan header. I changed it to the AIO_PMP header and then plugged the fan controller into the CPU fan header again. This time the error persisted even with the CPU light on. I removed the cooler and replaced the thermal paste. After that, I got into the case but the CPU light stayed lit. The HW monitor showed all cores at 100%, so I powered it down. When I tried it back on, it reported a "CPU TEMPERATURE ERROR" and all fans were spinning, including the AIO, and it seemed like water was being pushed through the tubes. I don’t hear any unusual noises or buzzing, and the cooler tubes look wet. I’m worried—I might have damaged my machine. Could you help? Please share any details that would be useful.

Thank you for your response. It's hard to tell if the pump is producing any sound, but I notice a small vibration when I hold it. My next move might be to test it with a new cooler. Does the fan connected to the CPU_FAN header make a difference if I'm using an AIO? This is my first build, so I'm still learning about these details. I've been running the PC for at least two years with the AIO connected to the CPU_FAN header and never had any issues. If the pump fails, it probably wouldn't matter.
It could be possible, though I'm uncertain about your situation. I usually set my AIO pump to 100% with a sys_fan header and kept the speed constant in BIOS. Since CPU_FAN relies on temperature readings to adjust fan speed, it makes more sense to connect the cooler directly to the CPU and control its speed manually via BIOS. You might test this by connecting the fan to the sys_fan header and setting it to maximum in BIOS to see if any changes occur. If nothing shifts, it's likely your AIO is faulty.
