The computer slows down significantly occasionally.
Hi everyone. I need some guidance on a problem with my PC. It appears to experience significant lag at times, though it seems to happen periodically. The issue impacts the entire system—not just a single game or application—but affects the operating system as well. During these periods, the mouse moves normally, but everything else on the screen appears very slow, like moving at about 1 frame per second. When trying to click something, it can take between 8 to 15 seconds for the action to register and display. This has forced me to shut down the computer completely. It’s occurred three times this week. I’m unsure what might have changed recently, except that I replaced my GPU from a 3070 FE to a 3080 FE about a month ago. However, the lag started appearing last week. Another possibility is that the system overheated during the warmer period of the past week. I considered it was just heat, but today it was cooler and temperatures didn’t spike much. Please help me figure this out and thank you ahead! OS version: Windows 11 Education (22H2); CPU: Ryzen 5600x; GPU: RTX 3080; Motherboard: MSI MPG X570; RAM: 32GB, 3600MHz (4x8GB) – XPG SPECTRIX D60G; PSU: CoolerMaster MasterWatt 750W.
750W is pretty close to the limit with a 3080, especially during power spikes. Many users are facing problems because NVIDIA didn’t properly account for PSU requirements. Have you tried DDU? Also, check this link: Your issue isn’t exactly the same, but it’s similar enough to give it a shot.
