The computer shuts down unexpectedly?
hi. lately my computer has been restarting itself from time to time, and the only thing it throws at me is
Kernel-Power 41 (63). No BSOD and with the code it just restars.. I tried to see if it created a minidump file but it didn't, even though I have minidump creation turned on.
my components are:
CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600
Ram 32GB kingston fury
GPU AMD RADEON RX 7800 XT
Motherboard Asus PRIME B550-PLUS
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thank you in advance for your answers.
The PSU's make, model, or part number is provided. Its age is also noted, along with whether it was purchased new or used/refurbished.
The PSU is brand new as of December 2024. I purchased it to upgrade to a more powerful GPU. The PSU works quietly! Pure Power 12 M 850W. There were no issues until May, but in the past two weeks the computer has started restarting frequently. I've had the GPU since February.
Hello there,
Is your CPU and/or GPU being overclocked? If yes, remove the overclock settings and try again?
There is a Kernal Power 41 error indicating a power interruption.
Are all system drivers, including the chipset and GPU driver, current?
Which BIOS version are you using?
Did you reset the CMOS after updating the bios? It matters because failing to do so may leave old microcode traces, leading to problems and affecting voltage stability.
So, I have the same motherboard as you do. It's quite simple.
1. Shut down the system and take out all external connections like the power cord and USB devices.
2. Take off the side panel for access.
3. Carefully remove the GPU.
4. Drain the CMOS battery (a coin cell under the rear where the GPU would be).
5. With a flathead screwdriver, touch the two pins labeled CLRTC on the motherboard (located at its outer edge near the USB connectors) and hold for 10-20 seconds.
6. Reinsert the battery.
7. Put the GPU back in place.
8. Reattach the side panel.
9. Connect the power cord and peripherals again.
After turning it on, you should see a different screen than usual. It will ask you to press F1 to enter BIOS and adjust your settings.
Once finished, start it up and test it once more.

It's a high-quality PSU, so it's unlikely the PSU is the problem. Another possibility is overheating of the CPU or GPU. It's uncommon for MoBo VRM or main power issues to occur. You can track temperatures using HWinfo64.
I can't reverse the overclocking, and Ryzen Master isn't compatible with Windows 11. I'll attempt to reset the CMOS.
