Occasionally I'm working on a Sony Vegas video or playing a game on my PC and it freezes. I believe it's not due to a temperature problem, but I need assistance identifying the cause. It happens when I stay on my PC for extended periods with many programs open or games running.

Write down your present OC and voltage configurations, then return everything to the standard settings.
Adjust the video and game accordingly; if it remains stable, your OC parameters are likely the issue.
Not every instability requires elevated temperatures—sometimes the silicon wafer simply exceeds its limits.

Simple steps – note your present OC/voltage values and return them to the default. Adjust the video and game; if it stabilizes, your settings are likely the issue. Not every instability comes from high temperatures—sometimes the silicon chip simply can't handle the load. Thanks for trying it. Any advice on a reliable safe OC for 6600k, such as VoltaFe or frequency tuning, turbo boost, C-state, or not?

Check the stability of your system with the default configurations. Share your temperatures during operation at the standard settings. Once confirmed stable, we can discuss overclocking.

Check the stability at default configurations first. Share your temperatures during default settings burning, then we can discuss overclocking.

Begin with Prime95. Turn on 'round off checking' and run the Blend test. Launch it and step away for a few hours.

Here are my results after executing it for roughly three hours following a motherboard reset.

it looks like the default motherboard isn't running overclock settings.
