I recently upgraded my PC from an R3 3100 to an R7 3700X. Everything was working well until I added a 980 Samsung M.2 SSD. Now my computer keeps crashing unexpectedly. This is my second clean Windows installation, and I have an Asrock MATX A320/AC motherboard.

Many boards in the line lack sufficient VRM capacity for eight cores, which could lead to significant overheating problems.

Is there any solution left? I've checked all the maximum fans, but it keeps crashing—maybe the thermal pads aren't enough.

Heat sinks near the VRM and certain fans seem to be aimed at the VRM, though perhaps not always. It’s possible they’re targeting it more directly. If fixing B-series boards were simple, they wouldn’t exist. Edited August 20, 2022 by Bombastinator

It didn’t seem like the issue was there before I added a new M.2 SSD. A 980 Samsung
