I purchased a 3060, AMD 5600x, Corsair RM1000x PSU and some new RAM, but it didn’t work. After double-checking cables and connections, I switched to my 1660, old RAM, and AMD 2600, yet no power appeared. I tried both the new and old components using my old 550W PSU, but nothing changed. I’m beginning to suspect the motherboard is faulty, though I’m not sure. I thought sharing my issue would help others who might face similar problems. I went through troubleshooting steps at least six times during the rebuild process, yet I’m stuck.
What model of board are you using? That determines the available debug options and what experiments you can perform. When attempting to activate it, does it illuminate without showing any output? Once activated, does it immediately extinguish? Or does it stay lit for a few minutes before shutting off? If it doesn’t light up at all, we need further clarification.
Sorry I forgot to mention my motherboard is a tomahawk b450 MAX and there is like no power at all, like no signs of power, no lights turn on etc it's just dead.
Typically no sign of life raises concerns. Possible reasons include incorrect connections on the front panel (though simple to verify), or a dead power button inside the case. You could manually short the power pins to see if the system powers down completely—no power means the PSU switch is off or the cable is faulty. There’s a wire behind the board that might be causing a short and triggering protection. If none of these apply, the board is likely fully nonfunctional.
It might be PSU, my problem started after switching parts—my CX550 was fine before, but now nothing works at all, including the CX550. I tested both the power button and bridging the connection, but still no improvement. I’ll look for any missing wires, though if none are found, I’m convinced the board is dead.
